March 16th, 2013

So here we are. 16 days in to March. The coaching carousel for HC positions, though not at full speed has begun spinning. It actually began moving while the playoffs were just getting underway back in November. Never too early I suppose when the coach or the school board or both decide it is time for a change.

There are changes every year. No surprise there. This year is going to be different only in the fact that it seems certain there are some high profile names destined to take a ride on the carousel. Stay tuned and try to not be shocked when the events become clearer.

Sounds like 2014 February realignment will see Six-Man cutoff numbers rise from 99 to 104. Now that is interesting because there are several communities that will need to look at moving up to our game of Six-Man. No certainty anyone makes the move but they will have the possibility enhance their programs by switching from 11-Man to Six-Man. I have been of the opinion that if a school is considering such a move, they should do it for the 2013 season and play a year of "outlaw" ball and be ready to play a district schedule when realigned in 2014. Get their feet wet, learn the game, go ahead and get them a HC with Six-Man experience. I stand by that opinion still.

If you are a head coach or an assistant coach or love the game of Six-Man more than life and can cover the registration fees, there are clinics cranking up soon.
